of Werewolves
* Werewolves are humans with the ability to shape-shift into a
wolf.
* Usually caused from either being cursed or by eating Henbane
* Most common theory - stripping naked & putting on a belt of wolf-skin
* Russians believe children born on December 24th will become werewolves
* First change occurs at fool moon then can change each night
* Only killed by a silver object (bullet, knife, etc)
* Modern myth - hereditary or being bitten can change you into one as
well
* First documented in ancient Greece and since in most every culture
* Norse legends of berserkers dressed in bear hides before battle
* Could also be derived from ancient Shamans and Totem beliefs
* Several medical conditions have similarities (excessive hair &
photosensitivity)
* First portrayed by Lon Chaney in the 1941 film The Wolf Man
* Good werewolves - American Werewolf in London & Harry Potter
* Bad werewolves - Howling series & Silver Bullet
